PROJECT OUTLINE
The current plan for the Astro Turf pitch is to be built in what we call “The Training Pitch”, below outlines the specifications.
- Astro Turf Pitch 90m x 40m
- Precast Hurling Wall 55m long x 5m high (40m in Astro pitch and 15m extended beyond pitch)• Fencing around perimeter of pitch with ball stop netting on top
- Lighting to achieve average illumination level of 300 Lux (6 Pole system-connected to ESB)
- 3 access gates on pitch (1 double for maintenance and 2 pedestrian)
- 8 retractable GAA juvenile goal posts
- 2 retractable pitch dividing nets
- 180m walkway around pitch/access from dressing rooms (as shown in plan above)
- Concrete area in front of hurling wall (20mx15m)
- Higher ball stop netting required at the 2 main goals
PROJECT TIMELINE
March 2021
Committee formed to look into the feasibility of developing an all weather Astro Turf pitch. The club gave the green light to apply for planning permission
February 2022
Planing granted for an All Weather Astro Pitch
February 2022
€150,000 received in the Government Sports Capital Grants after a successful application
May 2022
Finance Committee formed to come up with ideas/proposals to find the balance
September 2022
Launch of the Finance Proposals to members and supporters
Quarter 1 2023
Works to commence and be completed in eight weeks
August 2023
All financing to be completed by this date
