Funding the project
The below outlines the costing’s of the project. It highlights the current money available through our successful sports capital grant application, club funds and the fundraising initiatives needed to hit the target of €350,000.
How can we raise the funds that we need?
1. Donation Scheme
We are asking each member or friend involved in, or with an affinity to, the club to donate €1,000 towards the development project. Under Irish revenue rules, an approved sports body can claim tax relief on donations made in relation to a project approved by the Transport, Tourism and Sport (DDTAS).
When someone paying tax under the PAYE system donates, it is net of tax.So, if someone pays tax at 40%, the €1000 would be considered 60% of the donation (similarly if someone pays tax at 20% the €1000 is considered as80% of the donation). In both cases, the club can claim the tax on the donation directly from the Revenue Commissioners. Self-employed taxation works differently, please contact a club officer for clarity here.
What will donors recieve in return for their donation?
All benefactors will be honoured by having their name inscribed on our prominently displayed patrons board, in the new development.
An important point to note is that one of the rules of the tax rebate scheme that revenue offers is that no prize incentive can be offered; if for example, we were to run a raffle in conjunction with this donation fundraiser, we would lose up to 67% of the value of each donation. It is also important for everyone to understand that this scheme is separate to the day today running costs of the club. Membership will still need to be paid andl otto tickets sold to keep the club solvent while fundraising for the new development progresses.
A financial sacrifice on this scale is not asked lightly of anyone. We, the fundraising committee, and the club executive, are very aware that €1,000 is a lot of money to donate, but to put it as its simplest, the success of this exciting new Astro turf depends on the club raising a significant portion of the funding through our membership and friends of the club. Much research has been carried out into similar developments by sports clubs over the past few years and the vast majority have required a significant level of donation from members and friends who understand the importance of sport in the life of a community.

2 Fundraising
In recent years you may have noticed the success of various competitions for cars, farm machinery, holidays, houses etc. To meet our fundraising target, we will need to undertake a draw of this kind. To make this draw a success it has several principles.
- Needs to have an attractive prize to draw people in and create excitement
- Gain entries from outside the club’s core support base in the community
- To be on-line so it is easy to manage
- Limit the number of tickets and make it time sensitive
Taking the above into consideration we will launch a draw from May 1st, 2023, for tickets to a major sporting event (TBC), each ticket will be €100. We will limit the number of entries to 450 people. The draw won’t take place until all tickets are sold. The aim is to generate €40,000 in sales. A comprehensive social media campaign will take place to attract entries all driven on-line.
We will be asking all concerned with the club to highlight this to friends, work colleagues near and far.
3. Corporate Support
We are offering local companies the opportunity to support the Ballymartle Club and in turn reap the benefits of this association.
Our corporate sponsorship will be broken down into gold, silver and bronze packages starting from €2,500. Companies interested in supporting the project will receive some of the below:
- Corporate signage on the club grounds.
- 2 years advertisement carried on our rebranded club website
- Free entry into our annual golf classic for one team for one year
Our corporate team will be calling on local businesses and asking for their assistance in delivering this project for our local community.
